We organize a week-end retreat at Yunquan temple (云泉寺) in Suzhou (1h30 from Shanghai) from September 23rd to September 25th 2016. Departure on Friday evening, return on Sunday evening.
This training is open to beginners and advanced.

During this weekend retreat, we will learn the eight movements of BaDuanJin 八段锦 and the five postures of Five Elements Standing set 导引五行桩 with Dr Sun Lei.

About Baduanjin

Baduanjin was first mentioned in a book of the Song Dynasty (12th century AD) : Record of the Listener – Selection of Chinese Supernatural Stories (夷坚志). Later, during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the standing form became very popular and had already been formed into a complete health-enhancing routine.
We will learn the standing practice of NeiGong BaDuanJin内功八段锦which combines static posture, meditation and dynamism. NeiGong Baduanjin is a soft approach focusing on the spine and the use of inner power (neigong) to do the movements. It helps cultivate the vital energy with body and mind, reinforces muscles, tendons and organs, and enhances circulation of qi in the body. This practice is beneficial in case of back problems, stress and sub-health state. Some medical studies also demonstrated positive effects on insomnia and depression.
We will learn all the movements step by step in order to memorize them and understand the most important points to practice in a good way. At the end of the weekend, you will be able to follow this practice in a smooth way and be able to feel peace in your heart and your mind.

About Five Elements Standing

The Five Elements Standing is a set of daoyin standing postures that follow the change of yin and yang according to the inter-promoting cycle of the five elements; it is based upon the fundamentals of medical qigong standing posture. The set includes five postures: earth standing, metal standing, water standing, wood standing, fire standing. They correspond to particular qi dynamics that can be divided into: balance (中), close/contract (合), sink down (降), open (开), rise (升). The five elements standing postures also transform into one another following the inter-promoting cycle of the five elements: earth bears metal, metal enriches water, water nourishes wood, wood feeds fire, fire creates earth.
